Scope and Contents

The material in this collection was created from 1949 through 2006 by individual student organizations. This collection contains lists of organizations, as well as constitutions, newsletters, programs, event announcements, memos, audio tapes, CDs, posters, and stationery of individual organizations.  It also includes two microfilm rolls of documents concerning the 1969 student occupation of Ford Hall.

Biographical or Historical Information

Student organizations have been a large part of the extracurricular life of the student at Brandeis since the founding of the University in 1948. Student organizations include performance groups, ethnic associations, literary associations, academic societies, and public service groups. All organizations are created and run by students. Currently, there are more than 200 clubs and organizations at Brandeis.

Arranged in three series: 1. Organization Lists, 1965-2008; 2. Student Organizations, 1949-2007; 3. WBRS Radio, 1968-2011. Series one is arranged chronologically, series two is arranged alphabetically, series three is in original order. For more information on each series, please consult the series descriptions in the box and folder listing. 4 record center boxes, 1 manuscript box, 1 oversized folder

Accruals and Additions

Removed Barrister office files (two folders) from periodical collection on May 19, 2003 and added as Addendum to this collection. -KAA Inserted Barrister files into box and finding aid.  6/9/03.  -KDH Loose files from 1950s (e.g., Le Cercle Francais and Pi Tau Fraternity) integrated into collection by A. Olson in Oct. 2003; origin of these files unknown. Women's Coalition posters added to collection on January 3, 2005. -KAA "Brandeis University Fight Song" added to collection on December 5, 2006.  -KAA WBRS and SSIS materials added April 2011-- MAM.
