Biographical / Historical

Founded in 2007, The Schusterman Center for Israel Studies works to make Brandeis a leader in the young field. It seeks to train new scholars and support current academics in increasing their knowledge of the modern Jewish state by providing courses and a summer institute, hosting seminars, and co-sponsoring (in conjunction with the Ben-Gurion Research Institute for the Study of Israel & Zionism of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev) the journal Israel Studies. Faculty that teach courses for the institute are housed in various departments throughout Brandeis University including in the Department of Anthropology, the Department of Sociology, the Department of Politics, and the Department of Near Eastern Judaic Studies.
