Scope and Contents
The Tom O'Connor Collection is part of the Brandeis University Special Collections' extensive set of material related to the trial and legacy of Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti. The collection consists chiefly of the newsclippings and correspondence O'Connor collected during his lifetime interest in the case.
O'Connor's observation of the initial trial events and his continued advocacy for the pair's innocence lend this collection a long-term perspective on American attitudes toward the case. This material provides particular insights into the resurgence of interest in Sacco and Vanzetti during the early 1960s. The O'Connor files, taken together with the other Sacco-Vanzetti collections in the Brandeis University Libraries, comprise a very significant archival resource for research.
