Web development, 1993-2000, undated
Scope and Contents
Sub-series 1: General administrative records includes notes, correspondence, legal documentation, reports, personnel files, and press coverage of Lilith by other publications. Of particular note are the set of notebooks containing notes written by Editor in Chief Susan Weidman Schneider during the founding and early years of Lilith, ranging from 1974-1977. Also of interest are documents and correspondence related to a lawsuit filed against Lilith in 1987 in reaction to their story on J.A.P. baiting on college campuses. This sub-series also provides a well-documented history of the development of Lilith’s website and online distribution throughout the 1990s, and a number of files containing applications for jobs, internships, news correspondent positions, and other writer’s jobs. These files also contain several instances of Lilith staff reflecting on their own history, including files labeled “Lilith did it first” and “The best of Lilith”, as well as staff’s preservation of fan mail and hate mail in the correspondence files.
