  • Scope and Contents

This first part of this series deals with Goodheart’s work in leading programs and seminars. They include his efforts to develop a new graduate literature program at MIT, his work for the National Humanities Center as co-Director of the Seminar for College Teachers sponsored, and his time as Director of the Mellon foundation sponsored interdisciplinary seminars at Brandeis University. These papers include Goodheart’s syllabi, program conceptualizations, as well as student and administrative responses to his work. The series runs from 1969 through the 2000s and is arranged chronologically. The second sub-series consists of Goodheart’s notes (mostly course notes) on various topics, mostly handwritten on yellow legal paper. These include observations on the classical tradition, modern authors, and literary theorists. The notes span from the 1960s to the 2000s and are arranged chronologically.
