Summary: Catholic Church ; Book of Sermons. Contents include Sermo de passione Domini [A Sermon on the Passion of the Lord] ; Sermones de confessionibus non pontificibus [Sermons on Confessors-not-Bishops] ; Alia sermo de dedicatione templi [Another sermon on the dedication of a church] ; etc. The sermons seem to follow a liturgical order, proceeding from the Dedication of a Church, through Doctors and Confessors, to the Feast of the Epiphany.
Note: Bound in old full blind-stamped leather over wooden boards ; five brass bosses to front and rear cover ; brass hardware for single leather clasp on covers, clasp now missing ; red edges ; morocco label with gilt title to spine. Majority of the manuscript in a single cursive gothic hand ; occasional marginal notes in the same hand ; front endpaper includes text in another hand, and leaves in this same hand are bound in at various places in the manuscript, including most notably the final 8 leaves. Red initials ; margins ruled in grey ; writing block: 62 x 95 mm. History of Brandeis’s acquisition of the volume is unknown ; possibly the gift of Philip D. Sang.
