  • Scope and Contents

    Series 1: Administrative Records consists of correspondence, legal documents, financial records, personnel files, and meeting minutes related to Lilith’s operations. The financial records do not include advertising records, which are included in Series 5: Art and Design with other work generated by and for the design team. Materials within this series are arranged first by function, then chronologically within each folder.

    Of particular interest in this series are the meeting minutes and early notes written during the process of founding Lilith. These notes include drafts of the mission statement, as well as several notebooks kept by Editor in Chief Susan Weidman Schneider during the first years of Lilith's publication. In addition, there is a wide variety of correspondence represented in this series, including fan mail from readers. Also of interest are the detailed records of grant applications, both denied and received, which Lilith pursued in order to secure funding for publication.
