Michael Adamis (1929-2013) was a prominent Greek composer. Born in Piraieus, Greece, on May 19, 1929. A graduate in theology at the University of Athens, he completed his studies in both Western (composition with Y.A. Papaioannou) and Byzantine music, and pursued advanced studies in Composition, Electroacoustic music, and Byzantine music paleography at Brandeis University. Founded the Athens Chamber Choir in 1958. He was presented with an honorary doctorate from the University of Athens in 2004.
