    Frederic Morton was an Austrian-born American writer. His family fled Austria after the Anschluss and went to Britain in 1939. From 1959 he wroked as a columnist for The New York Times, Esquire and Playboy. His book A Nervous Splendor: Vienna, 1888-1889 (which, along with The Rothschilds, was a finalist for the National Book Award)
